Greetings again, #Ourmada Fans!
Most everyone who has talked to me about board games knows how much I talk about Family Game night. My family game night had a large impact on my life and, now later in life, have noticed the impact it had on me, even beyond running a game store for nearly 14 years.
Our board game shelves have had many games that were playable by kids as young as 8 for many years. Games like Catan, Splendor, Carcassonne, and others are great games that can be played be enjoyed by adults and understood by kids. Other games, such as Ion and Cytosis from Genius Games, have been available, making a decent selection of educational board games.
Now, we are carrying a selection of games from Haba. Games like Rhino Hero and Animal upon Animal are games designed for kids as young as 2 years old. These types of games did not exist when I was a kid (yeah, I am old). We had Hi Ho Cherio and other games from Hasbro and Milton Bradly. Nowadays, there are a so many more options, and they will be making an appearance on our shelves.
In case you have not had a conversation with me about playing games with your kids, here are two articles regarding some of the lesser known benefits of playing games with your kids. Don't rely just upon the feelings of a game store owner (I could be biased, you know) so take a look:
